Payments-as-a-Service provider Volante Technologies said on September 28 that it is teaming up with Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), the issuer of USDC, to let banks fold stablecoin payment and settlement into the payment infrastructure they already run, according to a joint release. The collaboration is aimed at financial institutions that want to test digital-dollar workflows without standing up a separate digital-asset stack, and it marks one of the clearest signs yet that stablecoin settlement is moving from pilot projects toward production-grade banking infrastructure.
USDC workflows inside existing rails
Volante is bringing USDC capabilities into its AI-powered Payments Platform, where clients can evaluate minting, redemption, beneficiary wallet registration, funding, notifications, and wallet-to-wallet payment execution alongside the rails and controls they already operate. The goal is to let banks assess how stablecoin activity can sit next to existing payment systems, operational controls, and on- and off-ramp requirements without introducing a parallel digital-asset stack. “As stablecoins become an increasingly important component of modern payments infrastructure, financial institutions need practical ways to understand how digital dollars can fit within existing operations,” said Nikhil Chandhok, Circle’s chief product and technology officer.
A rail built for the biggest banks
Volante’s customer base includes four of the top five global corporate banks and seven of the top ten U.S. banks, positioning the collaboration to reach institutions that already process trillions of dollars in daily transaction value. The move reflects a broader shift toward multi-rail payment architectures that combine traditional systems with emerging digital value transfer, while preserving the governance, controls, and interoperability that institutional use demands. It echoes efforts such as Standard Chartered’s direct USDC minting and redemption for institutions.
For Circle, the tie-up extends its push to make USDC a settlement layer for mainstream finance. “For banks, stablecoin adoption is not about building a separate digital asset stack; it is about integrating a new rail into the payment infrastructure they already depend on,” said Deepak Gupta, Volante’s chief product, engineering, and delivery officer. He added that Volante clients can soon test USDC workflows and that the two companies plan future collaborations and joint go-to-market work. The announcement follows Circle’s agreement to acquire cross-border payments firm Tazapay, part of its effort to expand institutional payment infrastructure.
