In short
- FIFA Rivals is a free mobile football game on iOS and Android.
- It supports optional player and acceleration of NFTs beaten on the polkadot-driven mythos chain.
- FIFA Rivals was developed by Mythical Games, the studio behind the earlier NFL rivals.
Mythical Games released his blockchain-driven mobile football game FIFA RIVALS Two weeks ago, and we tested to see if this iOS and Android game is worth it.
Because of the enormous size of the football fan base, Mythical games told Decrypt That it believes that the title can be 20 times larger than NFL rivals, his most popular crypto game that was launched two years ago.
In short, FIFA rivals feel like an even more simplified, crypto-infused and online playable riff Score! HeroA cult -classical mobile football game. In the beginning this is no problem and the online options are a strong suit. But after a few weeks on the virtual field, the gameplay is too repetitive to get me back for more.
Pack
FIFA Rivals let you build your own team of players who have been taken over via packs and then confronted online against other players.
In this sense it is very similar to the ultimate team mode of EA FC, where every player has unique statistics that improve as their rarity level increases. One thing that distinguishes it from EA FC is that players can be collected for a nice stat boost if you have multiples of the same card and have sufficient in-game currency.
By leveling a card five times, it will reach its maximum five -star level. Once that has happened, the player can be beaten as an NFT (on the Polkadot-driven mythos chain) by pressing the “Transformation” button and publishing the voucher in-game currency. Then voila, your card can now be tradable on the Mythical market.
You can earn packages, in-game currency and players by completing, competing and registering tasks. During my two weeks of playing this turned out to be a fairly easy and pleasant grind, because I felt that I opened packages after every match.
On the field
As soon as you are on the field, FIFA rivals almost feel like a turn-based football game, in which you wipe your finger over the screen to determine where your players run, pass or shoot the ball. The first team to two goals wins. This is where the striking similarities of the game to score! Hero appears.
That is not necessarily a bad thing. Score! Hero is a great game that I loved during my childhood, and the online element of the game adds a new feeling to FIFA rivals. However, it lacks much of what the gameplay of the original title feels fresh and varied.

In score! Hero, you are thrown into a wide range of difficult scenarios that force you to be creative to complete the level. Each attack, on the other hand, feels the same in FIFA rivals, making the gameplay old very quickly.
This issue is not helped by the “super skill” that pushes all the players away from you and makes almost every shot a certain goal. It feels like a cheap victory.
Players only have a limited time to make their movements in FIFA rivals, which adds a welcome layer of pressure and speed to the gameplay that scores! Hero is missing. That said, it is also the source of a lot of frustration when input sometimes has difficulty registering. I discovered that moving the camera was particularly janky, where my swipes were often ignored.
Yet it cost me 20 games to get my first loss, which only came once I stood opposite someone with a considerably better team than mine. My victories were not particularly challenging or satisfying, because it felt like I was just walking through my opponents, and my loss felt wrong because of the remarkable Squad balance.
That kind of balance problem is common in sports games in fantasy style where “whale” players can pay for enormous benefits, but it is still frustrating to disappoint yourself before you even touch the ball.
To buy an epic Luis SuarezThe player with whom my opponent destroyed me, I should have spent $ 34 on the mythical market for an NFT. That is not included boots This can be equipped for a Stat boost, one of which has recently been sold for $ 4. To get Lionel Messi, generally considered the greatest player of all time, you have to buy all five fragments to make it, one of which recently Sold for $ 131. The good things become pricey, especially for a game that is free to play.
Ultimately, FIFA Rivals is a solid game with a satisfactory pack, grinding and core gameplay that gets inspiration from a classic of the genre of the mobile football game. In its current form, however, the game could not keep me involved long.
If mythical games can improve the general gameplay of FIFA Rivals that can keep players addicted to the long term, then we might have a new football legend. But for now, FIFA Rivals has hit the bar – we will see if it ultimately scores the rebound.
