Robinhood launches ETH, SOL staking services for US users with $1 minimum

by shayaan

Robinhood launched Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) staking services for U.S. customers on July 10, enabling users to earn staking rewards on their crypto holdings with as little as $1.

The new feature expands Robinhood’s staking offerings beyond Europe, allowing American customers to participate in blockchain validation without directly running validators themselves.

For Ethereum, Robinhood will use a batch-processing method that pools customer stakes to meet the network’s minimum 32 ETH validator requirement. Depending on aggregation dynamics, users can expect to receive between 50% and 100% of Ethereum’s protocol staking rewards.

Solana staking is also now available, with Robinhood managing all technical processes to simplify participation for retail investors. The company said the expansion into staking reflects its focus on user-friendly crypto services and aligns with its broader digital asset growth strategy.

However, due to state-specific regulatory restrictions, staking will not be offered to residents of California, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Wisconsin at this time.

Starting October 2025, Robinhood plans to introduce a 25% commission on staking rewards, alongside third-party provider fees. While the combined fees mirror broader industry rates, the company aims to maintain a low entry threshold to attract retail users.

The launch comes as part of Robinhood’s aggressive expansion into digital assets. In recent months, the company acquired Bitstamp, one of the world’s longest-running crypto exchanges, to strengthen its global footprint and institutional capabilities.

It also purchased WonderFi, a Canadian crypto platform, signaling its intent to integrate broader financial services around digital assets.

Earlier this year, Robinhood announced plans to build its own blockchain on Arbitrum to offer on-chain equity trading and decentralized services directly within its ecosystem.

The platform has continued to add new cryptocurrencies and recently reported that crypto accounted for a growing share of its transaction-based revenue.

Robinhood had previously avoided offering staking to U.S. customers due to regulatory uncertainty, but cited recent shifts in the landscape as enabling the new service rollout.

The company’s broader crypto strategy aims to position it as both a retail-friendly gateway to digital assets and a competitive alternative to leading crypto exchanges.
